Mibau Stema Norge AS and Suldal Municipality have reached an agreement that paves the way for the establishment of a new industrial area in the northern part of the existing quarry at Jelsa.
October 12, 2026 - Jelsa, Norway – Mibau Stema Group, a leading supplier of aggregates for the construction and infrastructure sectors in Europe, proudly announces the agreement between Mibau Stema Norge AS and Suldal Municipality for the establishment of a new industrial area in the northern part of the existing quarry at Jelsa.
This agreement represents an important step forward for the continued development of business and industry in Suldal and the wider region. A new industrial area has the potential to create opportunities for new businesses, new jobs, and increased local value creation, while building on the strong industrial tradition that already exists in the area.
The process originally began some years ago with the plans to develop an industrial area. When the specific project was not pursued further, Suldal Municipality took an active role in exploring the opportunities for developing an industrial area. The agreement that has now been concluded marks an important foundation for the work ahead.
Quote from the Managing Director, Mibau Stema Norge AS
"We are very pleased that we have now reached an agreement. This has been a long process, but ultimately a positive one, in which the parties have worked constructively to find solutions that both safeguard existing operations and provide a foundation for future development.
We believe it is important to strengthen Norwegian industry and facilitate local value creation. Through this agreement, we are taking significant social responsibility by making land available for future industrial development, while at the same time securing the continued operation and development of our activities at Jelsa", says Tor Helge Hilmarsen, Managing Director Mibau Stema Norge AS.
Looking ahead
This agreement represents the beginning of an important development project for Suldal. Although significant planning and zoning work still remains, we have now established a framework that may facilitate new industry, new jobs, and increased value creation in the region. Mibau Stema is pleased to contribute by making land available and by taking an active role in supporting future industrial development.
“We would like to wish Suldal Municipality every success with the project and look forward to contributing constructively to the further development of the area. We have strong confidence in the opportunities this can create for both the municipality and the region in the years ahead”, says Tor Helge Hilmarsen Managing Director Mibau Stema Norge AS.
