Sustainable Rock Armour from the Tellnes Mine

From Overburden to Opportunity

At Mibau Stema Group, we are proud to work in close partnership with Titania, a Kronos company, to offer a new, sustainable source of high-quality Rock Armour for heavy construction and coastal protection.
The material is a by-product from the Tellnes mine in southern Norway—Europe’s largest ilmenite deposit, an essential mineral. As part of the mining process, anorthosite, very low to quartz-free metamorphic rock, , is extracted and moved to deposits, where we reprocess the material to rock armour and other applications. . The rock has a density of 2.7 t/m³.

What We Offer

  • Rock Armour in all standard LMA and HMA sizes

  • Ultra-large Rock Armour blocks above 15 tonnes available upon request

  • Extracted using advanced blasting techniques to reduce flat or angular shapes

  • Efficient loading and shipping from Titania’s dedicated port at Jøssingfjorden

With a yearly availability of ca 6 million ts of high-quality blasted rock, we are ready to meet both European and global demand.

A Smarter, Greener Choice

By repurposing the by-product from the mining operations, we significantly reduce the environmental impact of the materials supplied. It’s a smarter way to build—without compromising on quality or strength.
