Progress in the construction of a new plant in Tau

With the construction of the secondary and tertiary plant, production capacity in Tau will increase from 3 to 5 million tonnes annually.

Project engineer Fredrik Storås reports that so far, earthworks, concrete work, blasting (tunnelling) and prefabrication have been carried out. In mid-March, the first steel for the intermediate structure of the crusher building was installed at the construction site.
"We have now started the assembly of steel structures and machine stands for equipment and buildings. In total, around 3,000 tonnes of load-bearing steel will be used before the facilities are assembled and hoisted into place," says Storås.

Many workers engaged

Currently, around 60 workers are engaged in the construction of the new facility.
"From now on, we will increase our workforce, and this summer we will probably have between 120 and 150 people on the construction site," Storås continues.
At the end of March, a large delivery of equipment, including screens and feeders, arrived by sea at the quay in Tau, before being transported to the plant. After this, we will now start the assembly of steel and buildings for the intermediate screen building in the spring. This will be followed by the electrical installation, which will be commissioned afterwards, probably towards the summer.
"At the same time, construction of the new quay will start this summer, and the conveyor belts will be pre-assembled on site from June, so there's a lot going on now," says Fredrik Storås, who is responsible for project implementation.
