AIRBUS extension at Finkenwerder (Germany)

The European Airbus A380 project was to come to Hamburg, so the Hamburg ReGe accomplished the largest industrial expansion the city had ever seen: extending the Airbus facilities in the Mühlenberger Loch river terrain and lengthening the runway.

• 12 million m³ of sand shipped in
• Raising the land by 5 metres
• Lengthening the runway by 589 metres to the south and 309 metres to the north
• Broadening the runway from 45 to 60 metres
• Extending safety areas from 100 to 150 metres
